Learn Norwegian (1): The Norwegian letters

November 9th, 2011 mrBjordal

In Norway we have the same letters as in English, but we also got three extra letters in the end of the alphabet.

The extra letters are: æ, ø and å.
The capitalized/upper case extra letters looks like this: Æ, Ø and Å.

Norwegian characters at your keyboard:
PC users:
Use the ALT keys (press ALT and simultanously the code next to the letter on the numeric pad of your keyboard)
æ – 145
Æ – 146
ø – 155
Ø – 157
å – 134
Å – 143

Mac users:
Just press as follows:
(option/alt key WITH ‘ ) = æ
(option/alt key WITH a) = å
(option/alt key WITH o) = ø

Alternatives to the three extra letters:
æ = ae
ø = oe
å = aa

Vi snakkes :)
